Well-known in the market for its electronics products, Canon ventures into
the market for providing printing solutions for its valued customers with its Canon Pixma MP480 Computer Printer. This is a Three-In-One unit which provides printing, scanning and copying solutions. This unit supports for colours as well as greyscale printing, scanning and copying. The unit has the dimensions 49.3 x 38.6 x 22.9 cm and weighs 5.7kgs. The unit is designed for office purposes and is built on inkjet technology.
Printer
This Canon computer printer uses the Canon FINE technology for producing quality prints with a print speed of up to 20ppm for black and white and up to 16ppm for colour text. It prints finest quality colour photo of size 4” x 6” in 45 seconds. The unit is supplied with 1 black cartridge and 1 tri-colour cartridge, the ink type being ChromaLife100 ink with a minimum droplet size of 2pl and provides a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi for colour printing and 600 x 600 dpi for black and white printing. The unit has a print archival life of up to 100 years.
Scanner
The scanner is made of tri-colour linear contact image sensor (CIS) and has an optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and an interpolated resolution of 19200 x 19200 dpi. It provides for a colour depth of 48-bit (internal) and 24-bit (external). It has the RGB LEDs as the light source and has a reflective scan area of 8.5 x 11.7”.
Copier
The copier has a copy speed of 20cpm for black text and 16cpm for colour text with a copy resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. It has various features such as reduction/enlargement of 25 – 400%, AE copy, borderless, Fit – to – Page, frame erase copy, multiple copy (1-99 pages). The paper sizes supported for copying are Letter, Legal, Credit Card (2.13 x 3.39″), 4 x 6″, 4 x 8″, 5 x 7″, 8 x 10″, U.S. #10 Envelopes with a maximum printable are of 8.5 x 14” (with border), 8.5 x 11” (borderless) and the maximum supported paper width being 8.5”. The supported paper types are Plain paper, High Resolution Paper, Matte Photo Paper, Photo Paper plus Glossy, Photo Paper Pro and Transparencies with the maximum paper thickness supported being 105gsm. The total supported paper capacity is 100 sheets. It also supports copying of borderless photo of sizes 4 x 6″, 4 x 8″, 5 x 7″, 8 x 10″, Letter (8.5 x 11″).

The Canon Pixma MP480 Colour Computer Printer has a high speed USB 2.0 connectivity, supports various memory cards such as Compact Flash (Type I & II)/Micro drive, Secure Digital (SD/SDHC)/Multimedia Card (MMC), Memory Stick PRO/Memory Stick PRO Duo and xD-Picture Card (Standard, Type H, Type M). It has direct print capability (PictBridge). The unit has a basic power requirement of 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz. It has a colour LCD display screen of 1.8” and some of the front panel controls being Power, Colour Copy, Black Copy, Fit-to-page, Paper, Stop/Reset, 4-way controller and OK.
